IPL Party - Staurday, the 9th of May
The wait is finally over. Yes, the much awaited IPL party is finally happening on Saturday, the 9th of May, when we all watch Hyderabadi Deccan Chargers face Punjab da Puttars (Kings XI). The idea is to get together and have fun watching two leading teams in the competition fight it out. Here are the details:

Venue: The venue, Settlement Bar, is well known for its sports bar image. We have the entire indoor bar, with two big screens and comfortable seating, reserved for us.
Surround Sound: Surround sound high definition experience.
On match betting: On the spot betting for the match will add to the fun and excitement of watching the match.
Food and Drinks Menu: Settlement bar has a rich food and drinks menu to keep us sufficiently fed and drunk during the match.
Damages
Believe it or not, there are no damages. There is a modest cover charge of $25 per person which is entirely redeemable on food.
Good to know
The match starts at 8:15pm. Let us all reach the venue latest by 7:15-7.30 pm so that we have enough time to do the pitch analysis, place our bets and to warm up by having a drink or two before the match begins.
Settlement bar is barely 5 minutes walk from Wynyard station (between Kent Street and Sussex Street, Westpac Place Building)

Thank you for your response to our first competiotion "IPL Champion". Keep those entries coming and keep watching this space for more updates from our side as we endavour to make IPL Masti more exciting. Here is the first set of updates:
Clarification
The minimum amount of $20 is only for the competition "IPL Champion", the participation in which is compulsory. For all the other competitions, amounts in multiples of $5 (min. $5) can be contributed.

I am sure all of you are busy watching IPL. Just to get some excitement going, we thought of starting a game. Its called IPL Masti.
It is basically a betting game which will comprise of the following contests.
1. IPL Champion ( Winning Team)
2. IPL Lucky Loser (The team finishing last)
3. Highest Scorer for IPL
4. Highest Wicket Taker for IPL
5. 2 Finalists
6. 4 Semi-finalists
We will also start more match specific contests during the season.
Now the idea is not to make money ( well who doesn't need it though...) but for all of us to have some fun together. We also intend to organise a couple of IPL Drink and Watch ( Match only...) parties, the details of which should follow in next few days.
Now lets introduce our first betting contest, the participation in which is compulsory. It is called "The IPL Champion". As the name suggests, you win if you pick the team that wins the IPL. Following are the rules:
You 'contribute' a minimum of $20 towards one or more of the following 8 franchise houses :
Rajasthan Royals
Delhi Dare Devils
Chennai Super Kings
Mumbai Indians
Kolkata Knight Riders
Deccan Chargers
Kings XI Punjab
Bangalore Royal Challengers
The contribution cycle for this contest lasts 14 days from the date of begining of contest (22 Apr 2009). This means that you can make one or more bids (contributions) on one or more franchise houses upto the 6th of May , 2009.
If you pick the right team, you will win an amount that is equal to the amount you contribute times the odds against that franchise. Please note that while your contribution amount is a constant, the odds against a franchise is a variable, the value of which will be calculated based on the relative amounts of money being contributed towards different franchises.
Example: Abhishek contributes $50 towards Kolkata Knight Riders (Odds against Kolkata Knight Riders = 3.1). Usha contributes $100 towards Mumbai Indians (Odds against Mumbai Indians = 7.4). If Kolkata Knight Riders win the IPL, Abhishek makes ($50 * 3.1 = $155) and Usha goes home sad and does not make dinner that night. However, if Mumbai Indians win the IPL, Usha makes ($100 * 7.4 = $740) and Abhishek is a sad man.
The odds against any franchise will keep changing during the 14 day contribution cycle as you make your contributions. The final odds will be communicated to all participants after the contribution cyle ends on the 6th of May 2009 . The payoffs will be based on the final odds.
Participation in the first contest (IPL Champion) is compulsory and minimum bet is $ 20 , while it is optional in the subsequent contests. For other 5 contests, just mail us your choice with the receipt of the contribution and we will confirm it to you as soon as we get it.
This contest is limited to you and your close friends only. Please feel free to circulate the details to your friends.
Payment Instructions: Transfer the contribution amounts to the suggested account and mail the receipt to betonipl@gmail.com along with the name of the franchise(s) and the amounts contributed for it.
